Chemin de Fer Basics – Part 1
The general concept of the game is to be dealt cards totaling up to twenty-one. Every player is dealt two cards. When a blackjack player is handed a nine or less and an Ace they’ve been dealt a soft hand. When the blackjack player receives no Ace cards it is known as a hard hand. Once the cards have been given to every player at the table, including the dealer, each black jack player is given the opportunity to make 1 of 6 actions:
Taking another card (Hit): When a player announces "hit" the croupier will give them another card, if the adding of that card causes the total greater than twenty one the gambler will have lost and be excluded from the game, if the card makes the total to 21 the blackjack player is the winner and if the total has not yet reached 21 they’re still in the game.
Keeping the hand you have been dealt: If a blackjack player is satisfied with the hand they will hold. As soon as this has happened the dealer will show his/her cards and the black jack player who has gotten twenty one or the closet to 21 will come away with a win.
Doubling Down: A gambler might ask to double down which doubles the wager they have made. As soon as you’ve taken this procedure you can only receive 1 additional card. The details of doubling down are often out lined by the blackjack table or betting house game rules so before betting be sure you are comfortable with the casino game rules. If you’re betting at a web casino this is usually quite easy.
